Founders' Day
From its humble beginnings in an abandoned silk factory, ISC's educational journey has been and will continue to be a long and exciting journey. Like all journeys, it had its ups and downs, joy and sorrow, but it has maintained its upward course at all times.
One hundred and thirty-three years ago, Rev. Tanios Saad convinced Miss Louisa Proctor, a middle missionary, that the relief work she was doing to improve the status of women would only have temporary effect. Thus, he convinced her to provide women with education to empower them. Shortly after, they put their meager resources together and decided to start a school for girls. The school opened its doors on October 15, 1886.
Founder’s Day became a cherished tradition that has been practiced every year since the silk factory was transformed into a school. On that special day, seniors, teachers and representatives of the administration gather elegantly and celebrate the past years with respect and pride.
The ceremony commenced with an encouraging speech by Mrs. Frida Ghibril who motivated the seniors to make a difference while completing their last year. The speeches were followed by musical performances by some of our talented seniors. Every new cohort of seniors proves how generations have changed over time since 1886.
