SABIS® Talks & Webinars
The International School of Choueifat Alumni Association initiated a new educational and inspirational platform at ISC – Choueifat called SABIS® Talks. SABIS® Talks is a multidisciplinary platform focused on visions which have the power to induce a change. Aimed at high school students, it hosts a parade of visionary SABIS® graduates with the goal of sharing inspiration beyond education for a changing world. Albeit its initiation at ISC – Choueifat, SABIS® Talks is planned to spread across SABIS® schools in the MENA and Gulf region to become a platform of exchanging ideas and human intellect across schools and empowering students in the form of short powerful talks.
The first SABIS® Talks session was given by Rashad Rafeh’97, Director of Civic Influence Hub, on Friday, the 24th of January, 2020 at the school stadium in ISC - Choueifat. Rashad talked about “Change and Innovation” as the students listened intently. He presented them with real examples on how companies adapted to change in a fast -changing world , introduced them to the SMART objectives to set and achieve their goals, and shared with them personal life lessons he experienced as he shifted his career path.
The second SABIS® Talks session was given by Dr. Wael Zaraket’96, Professor and Director of R3 Training and Consultancy, on the 31st of January, 2020 also at the school stadium in ISC – Choueifat. Dr. Wael’s talk tackled the “Pillars of Leadership” and revealed the secrets of becoming a great leader. He urged the students to stay positive through any situation and gave the example of the Lebanese civil war and how the Lebanese always strived to do better regardless of the war conditions they used to live in. His talk motivated the students to even crawl if that's what it would take them to reach their goals.
The third SABIS® Talks session was given by Mohammad Kaissi ‘00, Internal Auditor and Professional Trainer on corporate governance and fraud, on the 26th of February, 2020 at the school stadium in ISC – Choueifat as well. Mohammad discussed with the students “Money Laundering and the Daily Habit of Anti-Corruption” in an interactive manner. Mohammad didn’t stand on stage as he was supposed to, he descended the stage to be able to easily interact with the students as he talked about the importance of good governance and anti-corruption to achieve business success and longevity. He also informed the students about the process of money laundering. Because of Mohammad, the students have now become aware of the crime's consequences at a young age and will grow up to be role model citizens!
The fourth Talk was by Mr. Aiman Chaar ('10), B.A in International Business, Minor Psychology, and a Masters in Sales and Marketing, as well as an NLP, Relationship, and Health Coach. Mr. Aiman's talk covered a world-wide issue: Bullying Awareness and Prevention. The talks was for Grade 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 students in a communicative manner, including role-play and Q&A. Mr. Aiman hung on the importance of feeling safe in the school environment and being aware of how bullying affects growth and mental health. During this talk, students were given guidance in order to know how to detect bullying, pay attention to warning signs, and how to resort to adults for help.
