Classes of 1969 & 1967 Reunions
On December 22, 2018, the Alumni Clubhouse was visited by Dr. Ibrahim Khoury ’69, Samir Habbal ’67, Zaki Rahimi ’67 and Sharifa Sukhen ‘69. After 52 years, the alumni caught up with each other and took a great walk down memory lane, laughing and reminiscing about incidents that happened back in the day, remembering them as though it were yesterday.
“Our 2018 reunion is not over yet. We still have at least one more function planned for tomorrow. And if the group still has energy to go on, we may have at least one or more to add before some of us break away. It is unfortunate that a few of us will leave before the School Gala on 27. But duties call. I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to Barhoum for his efforts to put this occasion through. We had a great time visiting the school this morning. It brought back fond memories. We were well received by the alumni staff and had a great tour. Mr. & Mrs. Saad’s home has been turned into a fine museum. The football field is still there, although now cemented. The boys’ dorms have been turned into a technology learning and testing center, the classroom building is still intact and I even saw and pictured the hedge from which I fell and cut my eyebrow. The airport view, unfortunately, is semi blocked now with growing trees, but you still can see almost 75% of the view we took for granted for so many years ago. Many new modern buildings, but most of what was there in the 50s and 60s is still there. I encourage all of you to make the visit if you’re ever back in town. It was not only the highlight of the day; I am certain it will be the highlight of the total visit. The group gave me a nice surprise birthday party. How nice... I will try to send more pictures of the occasion. It’s very unfortunate that some, who planned to attend did not make it. But there is always next year In Sha’a Allah. Merry Christmas to all and I wish you a very happy, safe, healthy and prosperous New Year.” - Zaki Rahimi, Class of 1967.
